We love the idea of our blog; we can give you more information on some of our favorite projects than we could on the regular pages of our website.
Here we’d like to tell you about The Hacienda Hotel. The Spanish Colonial Revival styled hotel was built in 1927 and designed by Thomas Reed Martin.
The hotel was built overlooking the beautiful Pithlachascotee River in New Port Richey, Fl.
The west coast of Florida and particularly New Port Richey was known as “Hollywood of the East”. The hotel hosted many silent screen stars like Miss Gloria Swanson; its been rumored that Miss Swanson would meet Joseph Kennedy at the hotel for their trysts. And that’s only a small tidbit of the Hacienda history. There’s more, lots more… just wait until we get to work on the interior, the stories are scandalous!
The Hacienda has changed over the years. Here is a great link of her story: http://www.fivay.org/hacienda.html
If you look closely at the pictures where the additions were removed, it is wonderful that the arches, as well as other architectural details, were simply covered up and just need some plaster love!
